Hi, I'm new to Linux, I have been using Ubuntu Studio Precise Pangolin in a virtual machine in my new laptop for some time, but I would like to install a better distro in my older computers, as I'm quite illiterate when it comes to computers
although I have tried to learn more in the past by studying informatic all that was taught in my school was to use piracy and not free programs like Corel Draw and DreamWeaver, so I drop and did not learn anything practical...I want a distro that can run smooth not necessary in some not so old computes: a Dell Inspiron 1100 and Compaq Presario 2200
Right now I don't have money to buy more ram for them so I really need some tiny but powerfull enough distro, I will use it for digital drawing, photomanipulation in Gimp and Inkscape and if it's possible to some video and audio edition. Also I would like some distro to clean or at least guide me to clean my computers of posible virus that they may have since they were shared with other people though I would preffer a separate distro for that maybe a CD bootable one. I would also like some security guide as is pretty posible that in a soon future I will be doing some comission artwork and will need to use a debit card and a paypal account. I have read about Puppy, Crunchbang, Bodhi, Knoppix, Slitaz and Tiny core, but I really don't know which is better for my needs especially as I have work almost all my life with Windows. I apologies if I didn't make this thread clear or maybe too long english is not my first language and is hard for me to put my ideas into words. I will leave my computers specifications down if is there something else you need to know to help me choose please tell me. In advance thank you for your help.
