i would really like to take this up.

but "nobody" has had two problems. which are cramping my style. while i use "libretto" with fluxbox 64-bit. on a 15+ year old computer.

firstly clicks and pops in audio. while using sunvox. a music creation application. this is unacceptable. i was willing to let it slide. while using openmpt with wine. because it has to do with a windows-only application. wine is a really complex thing. and audio applications are really demanding with system resources. there is a lot of "mojo" involved there.

the second thing. which is less annoying. is that the right "control" key on my keyboard is dead. for example when i want to press "control+shift+forward-slash" on the right-hand side. it works if i use the shift keys for the left-hand. the large "shift" key always works. to type capital letters while "caps-lock" mode is disabled and so on. but not the right-hand "control" key. i have tried keyboard setups and more. but it seems there is no support. for a budget laptop which doesn't have its own numeric keypad. the setup seems to assume. i'm using one of the older toshiba computers. where that right-hand "control" key was left out. in a laptop keyboard. which was poorly designed.

i don't want to download a 2gib iso. to see if those two issues were fixed. right now i just don't care about the whole of debian "trixie." eventually i will take up original debian with that base. or something else. but not mx linux. i was planning to get fluxbox edition with "systemd".

i used to have "wildflower" with fluxbox as well. in the hope that things were better. i upgraded mx linux. some things did improve. such as the ability to get a bigger mouse cursor. without having to modify "~/.Xresources" or other file. other things did not. such as the lengthy booting times. and the after-log-in effect. which is about as long as cinnamon desktop. on my computer.

i had also used "libretto" with kde plasma for a few months in 2024. very frustrating it also has the audio problems. had absolutely no faith in the "flagship" xfce 4.20 desktop edition. because i've had different problems with that. such as the inability to set the system time correctly. without going online. thunar's insolent refusal on top of everything. to execute a program. insisting i create a "dot-desktop" file. which is "trusted." then it still refuses to execute it. this happened to me on porteux 1.7 also.

to my surprise just the other day. i discovered "libretto" had an option to start the operating system. with "systemd" instead of with "sysv". sadly it didn't resolve at least. the problems with audio. i tried the "realtime" kernel. but it resolved nothing except missing touchpad support. just horrible.

if i join "their" forum. they would just assault me with, "give us qsi". as if that would fix anything. but "nobody" has had this audio problem. a few people on distrowatch complained about audio problems with this distribution. so i naturally expected on online search to be said something about it.

this just in: i'm glad the mx linux developers. were able to work out. once again allowing the choice. of one of two "init" systems in one iso. resolved the earlier disadvantage. of having to put out two iso's. each for fluxbox and for xfce. while really leaving no choice. to people who desired kde instead.

great distribution but quirky.
