I agree completely but it doesn't surprise me at all.

Fret not. Microsoft's usual M.O. is to either make it so simple ("easy to use") that it's useless, or so flexible/configurable ("powerful") that it's almost impossible to use successfully, unless you're an expert.

(Also, this is why they like the permissive licenses, like the BSD license.)
