What is on the chromebook ?
What are you trying to achieve with it....surf the net? gamble your fortune away?
Install a particular software?
Where a chromebook is concerned, I may also fail miserably....but at least I should be able to get the ball rolling
Details. What is on the C'book....ubuntu, Linux Mint, somehting else...???? etc etc

Welcome to Linux.org.
Chromebooks are not actually Linux, It is built on the Linux kernel but much of what Linux can do is limited in the Chrome book.
So it would be hard to tell you what you should do to learn unless we have a bit more info on which Chromebook and what you want to do with it. It is possible to install linux on it but with limited functionality.
A search of the internet will reveal several options for this.
If you just want to learn Chromebook then start here.
