Asides from a subscription to this forum , what other sites and forums would you recommend to keep me up-to-date?
n00b-friendly preferred please, because I am current a n00b!

I've been recommended Wilders Security Forum, but it seems a bit...dead

The following are some major sources for information on linux security:

https://linuxsecurity.com/. The site has news and an assortment of howtos are also available.

https://www.linuxlookup.com/security_advisories. This site has links to current "Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures" (CVE) for the major distros. Basically links to current vulnerabilities.

https://linux-audit.com/. The site has howtos and explanatory articles.

https://tldp.org/HOWTO/Security-HOWTO/sources.html. This is an older resource: the Linux Security Howto, from the linux document project (tldp.org). It has links to websites. It advises users to subscribe to a relevant security mailing list.

https://openssf.org/. The Open Source Security Foundation runs projects and programs on security and provides guidance articles to improve security.

Major linux distros with privacy focus are: https://tails.net/, https://www.whonix.org/, and
https://www.qubes-os.org/.

Their websites have a variety of articles which are informative about security, privacy and each's particular approach.

A general observation about security, but particularly of privacy is that browsers are major sources of data collection so the issue of privacy especially applies to them. There's quite a lot of online sources of information about hardening browsers which is independent of distros.

None, RTFM and search the web, do research on your own, that's how I learned about everything.
No offense meant.

Just to throw in another option, we have an automated security bulletin board which tries to capture the latest in security issues and news. 450 pages, and 9,000 bulletins. Happy reading.
