    Hello @haidighufron , and welcome to linux.org :), Hi @arochester :p

The error above is likely because the new firmware relies upon your having a Linux Kernel greater than or equal to 4.11.

Ubuntu 17.10 release (GNOME and MATE)are at 4.13, but installing them is a little dubious, because of a bug with them, see here

    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1734147

Other than that, you could try a Linux Distro that has a newer kernel, such as Fedora Workstation 27, which installs at 4.13, then updates to 4.14.

DistroWatch.com often mentions kernels in release notes, and you could look there.

However, if your heart is set on Ubuntu, then the dongle, as suggested by @arochester may be your best bet?

Good luck, and your English seems fine :D
