I cant install hplip

I start to use linux now and i have a fell doubts. Im using the Linux Mint Debian Edition 4, and im not able to install the hplip. Anyone have some tip for me?

probably the first questions are going to be ;

1) is it not already installed as default eg it is in slackware

2) describe what you did to install, you approach ?

3) What was the result , that lead you to conclude you can't install ? i.e output you got from any command line ?

does apt update work ?

i.e

sudo apt update
