EXT3, you will be missed...Onward to EXT4 and BTRFS



WOW! I am surprised at this! I have to wonder how many systems are still running partitions, especially the "/home" partition on EXT 3?

Time for a lot of people to do some Fall cleaning and upgrade their systems.

Some are still running ext2 on their /home.
 
P.S.A.
With Linux kernel 4.3-rc1 the EXT 3 filesystem is being removed.

Not as serious as it first appears. From the Phoronix report:
The EXT3 driver has been removed as support for existing EXT3 file-systems can be handled by the EXT4 driver.
Anyone still using ext2, must be running an old Distro and an old kernel. Of course, I'm sure someone somewhere is still running Windows 3.11!

Correct, the EXT 4 driver still supports EXT 3. I can only assume that EXT3 is slated for removal by this move however. :) Still, its time people start switching to EXT 4 in my opinion.
