Hey,

I'm currently using bog standard Centos 8 (installed without any extra packages). Using GNOME.

Yesterday all was running well, this morning there was an os update, I took the gamble and did it.

After rebooting I have a problem where I need to set my grub to nouveau.modeset=1 to get me to the log in screen. If I leave this set to nouveau.modeset=0 (which it was before) then I get stuck on boot when it says 'Starting GNOME Display manager'. At this point if I CTRL + ALT + F2, it shows me a frozen terminal so all I'm left to do is reboot.

So, once I'm logged in, all seems fine but I've noticed some features of software that took advantage of NVIDIA like Optix etc are now disabled.

I've tried multiple suggestions online which I can list but thought I'd check on here first.

Thanks!

Dan

If it was me. I would install the rpmfusion, "epel" repos.

Question: if the nVidia drivers aren't nstalled, how does any of the software take "avantage of nVidia"?

Sorry you are right, I was thinking I was GPU rendering and it was CPU so ignore that. It wasnt working
