Have a user who started using Mint several months ago and recently purchased a Brother printer (above). This model does not seem to have a Linux driver, at least one that I can find.
I went to the Brother site and downloaded what appeared to be the driver but when I try using it, I get the message that rendering is completed, the printer says it's receiving data, but that's about it. No printing happens.

I will certainly try this. I'm really a newbie when it comes to Linux, although I've messed around with it for several years. Trying to become more proficient!
Thanks. I'll post my results.

Tried it yesterday and it worked really well. The hint says not to follow the directions on the Brother download site. They were right. The directions on the easylinuxtipsproject were right on.

Hello!

To get the Brother HL-L2390DW working on Linux Mint, follow these steps:

  1. Install Drivers: Download the Linux drivers from the Brother website for your model. You can usually find them under the "Downloads" section for the HL-L2390DW.
  2. Add Printer: Open the “Printers” utility in Linux Mint, click “Add,” and select your Brother HL-L2390DW from the list. If it’s not listed, you may need to manually enter the IP address or connect it via USB.

  3. Install Dependencies: Make sure you have necessary packages installed. Open a terminal and install brscan and brother-lpr packages:
    bash
I am using Brother Printers and Drivers

Hope you are aware that this thread was solved over years ago.
