I may be trying to attempt the impossible, as hours of surfing sites have provided no answer. But, someone here might know whether or not it's possible.
So, I'm using Brave as my web browser and Duck duck go as my default search engine. I also, by default, delete all cookies when the browser closes.
I would like to be able to access Duck duck go without using the address bar. The reason for that is I want to be able to disable the AI features of the search engine prior to doing a search. By default, the only way to turn off the @#$%^& AI feature is to actually search for something, then access the AI settings, turn them off, save and exit, then search again. I can find no other way to access the AI settings without first doing a search. Very frustrating, to say the least.
Anyone have any ideas?
Oh, if it matters, I'm running Mint 22.2.

Thanks for the input guys. You've pretty much confirmed my conclusion. There is no way to permanently disable Duck AI.
I already knew that, for no adequately explained reason, the disable command is stored in a cookie.
I don't use the Duck browser so that's a no go.
The link to disable the Leo AI is for Windows only. However, I've already disabled everything pertaining to Leo in settings. Well, I've pretty much disabled everything I can in settings. I don't use the wallet feature. I don't know what "TOR" is, let alone use it. And I use KeyPassXC for passwords.
So, I guess I'm stuck with searching for the word "alpha" every time I open the browser, going into settings, disabling the AI, then going back to to whatever I'm actually searching for.

I no longer use Brave as my browser, so I am unable to check these out for myself

Turn off Duck.ai in DuckDuckGo search

  1. Go to Search Settings > AI Features
  2. Turn off Duck.ai
  3. Select Save and Exit to refresh DuckDuckGo search with Duck.ai disabled

Turn off Search Assist

  1. Go to Search Settings > AI Features
  2. Select Never from the Search Assist dropdown options
  3. Select Save and Exit to refresh DuckDuckGo search with Search Assist disabled
