Anybody using a Mac Pro 6.1 for Linux? (Trash Can Mac)

It runs fine. But as I mentioned it has a cycle of boot crashes. After Dell logo is simply crashes to power off. Restarting eventually gets it to grub. Sometimes just selecting the standard cinnamon entry works, other times that continues the cycle. Eventually back in grub and selecting recovery has a bunch of options that never quite solve it. Not sure what all those choices do. I tried most of them except clean. fsck doesn't work cause the drive is mounted. I'm on thin ice as it is, not really knowing what I'm doing so I just leave it powered on for now. LOL the real test of my bravado is with my beloved MP 6.1

Well. I managed (ChatGPT did the heavy lifting) to get Linux Ubuntu LTS 24.04 with kernel 6.8 running and making full use of the 6.1 and its D700 gpu's and the wifi working. I will be posting a full report on the trials and tribulations soon.
