I think my wifi adapter has some issues. I was encountering random freezes. I have disabled the driver for now and it's so far so good.

Yup. I got it in the software center through install drivers option in the welcome menu.

Right. I figured the need to install the wifi drivers as the connectivity option wasn't visible. The system is installed now so I will download the required drivers. (I've updated the progress in previous post)
