I'm installating Linux Lite 5.4 on my 4gb ram, windows 10 Intel Celeron laptop, via live usb. When I hit "Install now" on the Installation type window after selecting "Erase disk and install Linux", it's been an hour now and the cursor is still spinning on the same window with no visible progress. Please help.

Ok.. the Windows print out doesn't tell me all I was looking for, so have you managed to run linux lit live from the install medium? if yes
did you choose the UEFI option on the install ? if yes
then I suspect either a corrupt download or a bad burn [did you check the MD sums]

Yes, I was able to run live from usb.
Yes, I chose UEFI option on the install.
Yes, I checked MD sums, they're correct.

strange.... are you replacing W10 or are you setting up a duel boot?

I am off out shortly, hopefully one of the other boys may have some ideas, before I get back

Boot to the live session and go to a terminal and enter this command.
Code:
inxi -Fxxxzr
Then post the output here. If inxi returns command not found error you may have to install it via package manager. I'm not familar with lite so not sure if inxi is included on the live session.

Also, it seems it's taking excess time at any random step in the installer. Now it's been spinning on the previous screen (before 'erase disk and install Linux' screen). The live mode seems to be working alright, just the installer is seemingly lethargic.

UPDATE: I kept on quitting the installer and retrying and now it has surpassed the mentioned obstacle and is "Copying files"

UPDATE 2: The process completed and Linux Lite has been successfully installed. Thanks y'all for the kind inputs.

the only problem i see from your print out is
Device-1: Broadcom and subsidiaries BCM43142 802.11b/g/n vendor: Lite-On driver: N/A port: f000 bus ID: 02:00.0 chip ID: 14e4:4365
if you need to use wi-fi you will need to download and install up to date drivers [the bcm drivers in the kernel don't usually work as this one is a bit new]

Right. I figured the need to install the wifi drivers as the connectivity option wasn't visible. The system is installed now so I will download the required drivers. (I've updated the progress in previous post)

I hope you now have everything as you need

Glad you got it going :)
