I haven't started this clean install operation yet. I'll post a follow-up when it is completed. Meanwhile, this thread is still open for business since there is a Dell Inspiron laptop with the same problem waiting in the wings....IMHO both HP and Dell "Aint what they used to be" lol.

The M170 receiver is detected. Mouse inoperative. lsusb

My new wireless mouse is a Logitech 170. It uses wi-fi, not bluetooth.

I purchased a new logitech wireless rodent:mad:same problem!

I have done everything except reinstalling the drivers. How do I do this?

Thanks Gents, Didn't help. The mouse with a tail works just fine. I'm about at my wits end trying to figure this thing out. Linux OS is Ubuntu and dead rodents are Logitech. One laptop is HP and the other is a Dell. Best, pickle4905

I have wireless mouse failure after a 3 day power outage due to severe thunderstorm activity. Happens only on linux laptops. Windows OS computers are not affected. How do I recover use of wireless mouse??
