The devs at Tiny Core Linux announced the release of Tiny Core 17.1 this morning and it took a surprisingly long time for anyone to point out that Core-17.1.iso comes in at the record small size of zero bites. I'm thinking I'll wait a couple more hours before I download it. :)

They must have folded The Iso in subspace...
Or that one anomaly in DS9!

Hope you enjoy!

Keep us posted, Mike, I am going to try me a Tiny Core.

The ISO was corrected a few hours later and is said to be OK now. The individual kernel and initrd files, which is what I install from (though I still haven't got around to it in this case), were ok (or at least non-empty) all along - only the ISO file was empty.

"Juanito" carries a lot of load in the Tiny Core release cycles with amazingly few errors, but I suppose he's getting a good razzing from the other devs on whatever side channel they use internally.
:D

I installed 17.1 last night and it seems to work as expected except for one little thing which I haven't taken the time to track down yet:

I've loaded the exact same extensions/packages as I used with version 17.0 (64 bit) one of which is jwm. I have the clock displayed in the jwm tray but the clock doesn't update in 17.1. The clock is displayed correctly at startup and when I reset jwm with ctrl-alt-r, but then it just sits there. The jwm extension has not changed, so I'm guessing there's an issue with one of the kernel-dependent extensions - I doubt it's the kernel itself.

I'll report back when I figure it out.

Turns out it was a mistake on my part - a misconfiguration in one of the jwm rc files and it had been there for a couple of days before I did the OS upgrade - I just hadn't noticed it before. So, yet again, "my bad". It's the sort of dumb stuff that keeps you humble (which is, of course, something I struggle with. :) )
