Linux with PC utilities for techie

I use Linux Mint for technical support when MS Windows will not boot and I need to check memory, hdd, or copy the user folder to a external hdd.

Is there a distro that has a number of these utilites ready to go? I also used 'partition magic' I think was the distro name and it came with a few PC repair and reporting goodies.
