I've pretty much settled on Linux Mint 17 now as my main Linux distro. I’ve tried Ubuntu (A very good one if you don't use Unity), and Debian 7.5 (another good one but built for more than desktop use). I've settled on Mint because I really like the Cinnamon desktop as it's been the most robust desktop I've used. And yes, I still even do CTRL-ALT-F1 to use Linux in a text only mode. Still like seeing sites using Lynx and doing things in a non GUI. It's called keeping the gears greased so to speak
