Linux-Based Windows Rescue/VirusCleanup?

I'm in the process of interning with a small PC repair shop in order to gain real tech experience. I would like to bring my Linux skill to contribute to basic jobs. Of course, some of the most common problems are customers with contaminated Windows machines :p

I am of course interested in Live Linux distros with pre-installed tools. A quick Google search brings up some choices like Avira, BitDefender, Dr. Web, or Kapersky. I was just curious if anyone had experience with these kinds of tools or recommendations.

I have had some success with Kaspersky. I was initially drawn to this article: http://foss-boss.blogspot.co.uk/2009/05/killing-virii-with-gentoo-and-kaspersky.html

It's a bit old now and there is a more recent Kaspersky disk available.

The only difficulty I have had is when the system was so much infected that it was well and truly broken.

In some cases, I'm hoping a live Linux environment could be used to retrieve critical files from an imploding Windows system, even if it can clean out really bad infections. I appreciate the feedback though.

I'm trying out something called Trinity Rescue Kit. It's a live Linux command line menu with some nice Anti-Virus cleanup tools. The menu conveniently includes turning on the SSH server or setting up a File Server.
