Applications crashing Ubuntu

Anybody else having issues with applications crashing windows, I had an Amazon application (which came with Ubuntu) and I installed the youtube application, both crashed and froze Ubuntu and I had to switch off the computer at the wall socket.

Any ideas ?

These applications are actually apps designed for Ubuntu phone/tablet but are included with desktop. They are not finished products and I do not know why Canonical is including them. Basically, do not use them.
