not restoring properly

Hello Linux Mint people (and others), I have many years IT experience, and have searched the internet back-to-front for a solution to this problem. I have been using Linux Mint as my main O/S for over 7 years, and use Timeshift to regularly backup and restore to/from an external USB hard drive...
