Microsoft To Charge Monthly For Windows 10??? :3

I think the future is more or less "everything being on the cloud" and your computers acting like thin clients (a computer with an OS and not much else on it). Since companies will be able to make banks off of "leasing out" licenses rather than releasing new versions every few years or so or...

Removing Windows 10 (DBAN) and using Linux

First bear in mind that your warranty will be likely voided due to removing the Windows 10 installation. Now that in mind, next up is which type you want. Linux Mint is probably your best bet as it's both user and hardware friendly (meaning it have the most array of hardware that would works...

[SOLVED] Best hardware (build) for linux

I THINK what he meant is "what hardware will work as close as possible as "out of a box" and with minimal frustrations with HAVING to get drivers for?". Aren't there hardware that just stinks with Linux just like most Wifi dongles I tried using (even those "rated" for use in Linux Mint)...

Compatibility question re: Linux and WiFi cards

You are most certainly welcomed. I personally understand how much a birch WiFi is on Linux unless you get such devices that naively support Linux.

Can I Create A Hyperlink to a file on my External HD and Email it to someone?

You are most certainly welcomed. If that the case you may consider the final option of ordering the service. Since they will handle it all for you yet be supposedly more private than the big name stuffs (Google Drive, Drive, and so on).

Can I Create A Hyperlink to a file on my External HD and Email it to someone?

Your bottleneck here are... If your HDD even have Wifi features to begin with AND If your ISP (your Internet Service Provider) even allow outbound connections for those to even work. Assuming all of that are true I don't see why not you couldn't create your own "private cloud". Failing...

Compatibility question re: Linux and WiFi cards

Panda Wireless gears are you go to Dongles if you need/prefers one. I have both a low and "high end" models (PAU05 I THINK and PAU09) and they are both "plug and forget" dongles on Linux Mint 18.3 on kernel 4.15.0.43. Also to boot their techs ACTUALLY knows how to help you if your wifi is...

    Laptop Hard Drive

Those are boot able from the BIOS or the newer UFEI or whatever they are called now. The main thing to worry about is the USB port. Which for Hard Drives most will do. If you don't know how to change the boot order there are plenty of material online on each manufacturer's system. So you can...

    Laptop Hard Drive

What about dates and so on? I would think if they WANTED to they can indeed go into the installation to see if it was the original or the customer just tried reinstalling it or whatever. The only reason they can do this is because no one will contest them (it's too much to take them to court...

Even replacing the OS will, so it's given. Which is why I have a love and hate relationships with laptops.

    Laptop Hard Drive

Firstly an SSD just means a "solid state drive" and as the name implies there are no moving parts. Whereas a traditional HDD (hard disk drive) have moving parts (the read and write heads and arm assembly). What does that means for you when you switch to a SSD? That is means... 1. Lower...

    Laptop Hard Drive

SSDs if you can afford them! Even a small Silicon Power one will cut the mustard then some! If you rather buy your own brand be sure your opting for MLC OR SLC if you want it to "built to lasts". TLC drives should be avoided like the plague since they may dies out quite quickly and are not...

    Boot with usb

Assuming you has followed the instructions to unplug after the installation have completed and rebooted it should come up with GRUB to select the OS you wanna use. In case your PC is being dumb just press SHIFT on the left hand of your keyboard during boot to "force" GRUB to shows up. Also...

Resize partition for more room for linux

You has to boot into another medium (like a Linux Liveflash/CD or another drive with another OS) then use something like GParted to partition the now "unmounted" drive. To resize an existing partition in GParted just edit the existing partition to the size your looking for.

    Bluetooth Earbuds?

Hello, quick question about using these on Linux. If I just do it via a transmitter that doesn't requires a driver installation I am all set assuming the earbudes support the profile that the transmitter uses?

    Checking APU/System Temp?

It's the similar deal with appliances from fridges and washing machines. I was told that in those days you could easily get someone to come and fix them on the rare occasion that they do clock out. Good luck getting someone to even fix a fridge and a washer left alone a toaster...

    Checking APU/System Temp?

Interesting I didn't even know that the included BIOS will let me know if a directly connected fan would to fail at boot. That's the price I paid for under provisioning the board but like I said I can probably sense the temp variations to asses if one of the dual connected fans would had fail...
