OOOPS typo. I meant to type 18.2 definately not 18.1. It did work with both until I reinstalled and am unable to obtain any version of the HPLIP except the 3.17.7. Sorry about my lousy typing.

Rob, I did all of that and still no printer. I did note that the link you had did not correspond to the HP link I have. The version numbers were quite different, and now i can't seem to get to that link. Could that be the problem? I have the wrong version loaded?

Yes, I did and no it doesn't. I have tried to intall three times now and ti still tels me I don't have any HP devices installed. An yes I followed the directions meticulously. :)
