I first started looking at Linux in 92 while at App State. I had been exposed to Unix on Sun before that in the Army, but Linux was exciting and real. Finally, an OS that wasn't there for profit, but to make computing better. I didn't do well with slackware and barely got it to run on my rusty trusty 386. Undaunted, I kept at it until I got it to work and network with my other computers. After some time, I graduated from Army life and landed a Unix admin job in Hawaii mostly talking to users on the phone and walking them through trumpet winsock. Later I got some exposure to HPUX and decided to be a pure system administrator. I worked with HPUX until it wen out of style, then landed smack in the middle of RHEL. 7000 virtual servers spread across 4 data centers kept me and the 2nd shift team busy. I learned something new every day and we grew together to be a real workhorse team with the finest toys a kid could play with at our fingertips...F5, VCE, RHEL. Those were the days. I now use a little old laptop to access the internet. I tried the other OS's, but had to use fedora, due to it's comfortable feel and the fact that I'm familiar with it's Redhat innards. Glad to be here. Hope I can contribute as well as learn.
