Use a Flash Drive or an SD card as Ram?

If you are using zram - remember about one thing - most USB drives are not designed for so many writes that you will do to them :) I was using zram on a single board pc, with soldered 1Gig of RAM, and basically killed a flash drive in a month :)

Dual booting Linux and Windows 7

If you have a spare HDD drive, you can buy a cheap USB enclosure for it, and as @etcetera said - use it for backup. You can do a clonezilla clone, sure, but If you will stay with Linux, and use it as daily driver, you don't have to - If you use Mint, there is a cool tool called "Timeshift" you...

Stable daily driver distro for a laptop (Dell Latitude 5431)?

Thanks! :) Few days ago I did manage to revive my old Thinkpad. But after starting this thread I felt an urge to do some changes and kicked out my Mint :) I was thinking about Manjaro, that @wizardfromoz is using, but after some more research and info i gave a chance to OpenSUSE Tumbleweed...

Stable daily driver distro for a laptop (Dell Latitude 5431)?

Thanks. I'm looking at MXs site, and it looks cool. Debian backports + flatpack natively ? Nice. I will check it out. And I'm little surprised with Parrot! This is something that I didn't heard of, to be perfectly honest - I was using Kali from USB-C SSD when needed (not very often though). I...

Stable daily driver distro for a laptop (Dell Latitude 5431)?

I prefer XFCE and i3. Or Mate. I was a 14.04/16.04 Xubuntu user, before the Mint, why not - It's April, so there should be a new LTS in about two weeks I think :) Thanks, @KGIII and @kghose - It's worth checking out! Do you know if snapd is a must in upcoming 24.04? Or I can disable it, and live...

Stable daily driver distro for a laptop (Dell Latitude 5431)?

Hey guys. First post here :) My old and trusty Thinkpad T580 died on me not so long ago, and I just grabbed a Latitude 5431 as a replacement. I was running Mint and Debian on the Lenovo, so initially I was thinking about running it on this Dell too. BUT - maybe you guys are using something else...
