I have been a linux user for nearly 15 years, but have hung tight to the coattails of my partner. He's retired from software engineering and has years of experience with open source and linux. Now that he's dealing with a fading memory, it's up to me to learn more about this lovely system I use.
Job One: Come up with a backup system so I'm not uneasy about taking my laptop on a long trip with my grandson. Time is short but I'm a fast learner (thirty years in education can do that to a person!)
Job Two: learn enough about linux that I can maintain our domain and my website and not look like quite such a neophyte.
Job Three: Gain enough facility with linux systems so that I can introduce my grandchildren to them.
