Pardon my newbness here...
I have never used Linux before, however, I have inherited an Apple G5 PowerPC and I would like to turn it into a home server of sorts using Linux.
I am trying to decide my best option between Debian, Ubuntu and Ubuntu Server. I am comfortable with command line interfaces, however do not know any Linux commands as of yet.
I am after something secure, stable, easily backed up, and able to share / stream PDF's, Pictures, and Video Files with PC, Mac, and iPhone.
Most likely I will be remote controlling this "server" from my mac rather than operating it locally if that makes a difference.
Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for your help!
