I've just recently installed Ubuntu, and so far I'm loving it. It's quite user friendly for myself. What is your favorite Linux distro and why exactly?
The distribution (as far as it's up to date) doesn't matter so much. You have the same software everywhere. I mean, it does matter but there's no big difference as in Windows 7 vs Windows Vista.
Absolutely Gentoo, a brilliant distro. Very simple (which does not mean easy) and linear in its structure (one of the best distribution for the organization and management of files under / etc). Perhaps heavy use everywhere (due to the need to compile each package) but ideal for a desktop PC.
