Solved linux.org forum mails seems to be delivered with a delay

I think things are working as designed .. you now have the email notifications set on both threads you started and threads you're involved in. Let's give it some time and get more data :)

Solved linux.org forum mails seems to be delivered with a delay

@Condobloke I think it's just a matter of whether you're 'watching w/ email notifications' or not on some of them. You may have replied in some that you didn't start while that one box wasn't checked? For any that you aren't getting email notifications for, at the top, just make sure you're...

Solved linux.org forum mails seems to be delivered with a delay

Right, there was a site-wide issue where the 'cron' job that fired off emails was getting queued way up causing a delay. That should be fixed as well.

Great! I think the issue was that you'd receive emails about replies to threads you started, but not the ones you interacted with because of that unchecked box. Either way, hopefully it stays fixed lol.

    Ok, hopefully that fixed it.

Ok .. so because you had the 'and receive email notifications' unchecked originally in prefs, i'm thinking it'd just notify you with forum notifications and not email on content that you interacted with but didn't start. If you click unwatch above to unwatch, then click 'watch' it'll ask if you...

@Condobloke - so yours says 'unwatch' currently?

Click the 'and receive email notifications' there for content you interact with.

@Condobloke just to be sure .. at the top of this thread, you're 'watching' it?

Yeah, i'm using gmail and receiving notifications ok. Also, I believe i'd see the bounce in sendgrid logs if the receiving provider didn't trust the flags.

Can you double check your prefs and make sure that the right boxes are checked: https://linux.org/account/preferences

Solved linux.org forum mails seems to be delivered with a delay

I'm seeing in the server logs that you were sent a notification email from a conversation here on the forum from 5 mins ago. Also seeing that msg in sendgrid logs and that it was delivered to your email provider.

Solved linux.org forum mails seems to be delivered with a delay

It appeared to be spamming cloudflare with its checks (which are also individual 'cron' jobs) which was (imo) building a queue and delaying other jobs (like checking if new reply emails should be sent out) quite a while. Once I killed it, the 'cron' jobs in the software were able to run normally.

And I just received an email regarding your reply :) Hope that add-on issue was what was causing it. It was an add-on that helps us to manage the cloudflare connections directly from the backend instead of on their site.

I noticed that a cloudflare helper add-on seemed to be generating quite a bit of noise .. i've disabled that and have also updated xenforo (the forum software) to it's latest update as we like to do. Let's give that a minute and see what's what..

Are we suffering attempted DDoS attacks.

It does appear that there was an extended attack today .. I wasn't on the site during this time, so I can't say firsthand, but here's some graphs during the last 12hrs. Seems pretty aggressive. Again, no worries, let em hit us, we're here.
