    To change the size of Desktop icons....right click anywhere on Desktop and choose...Customize and change the icon size as shown... To move Desktop icons around...remove tick from Auto-arrange.

Don't pay for Linux it's free...you need to download the latest version of Ubuntu (I use Mint) and burn it to a Flash Drive...

    It's not something I'd advise doing as Linux is all about security. Not having a Login Password...anyone can access your computer files...it's even easier in Mint Cinnamon to do but that's not me.

    Removing Pesky Desktop Icons.

    In Linux Mint Cinnamon...to create a Desktop shortcut...go to Menu select the icon right click...choose Add to Desktop. To remove the shortcut...right click choose Move to Trash or Delete. Now you see it... Now you don't... Don't worry...the icon is still in the Menu.

    Welcome to the Forum. If I was doing this...I'd backup the Mint Drive with Foxclone...https://foxclone.org/ then you can put the image created by Foxclone on the old Drive...I assume this is what you want to do.
