I was following a tutorial for installing and hosting your own web server, but i'm stuck on this from last 2 hrs. I'm new to linux and everything, please help.

Well you don't give us as far as I can see the link to your tutorial so we can't see the steps you might of have missed .also context is missing ,are you taking static IP self web hosting to the world or for local use ?on my pc I have Apache there already but I have to edit eh /etc/httpd/httpd.conf by comment IMG out some #
