This site relies on revenue from the ads. I do understand we generally did have an overabundance of advertisements, so I have since disabled some of the more aggressive 'overlay' style ones. I'm still messing with the others.

I certainly don't want the ads to ruin the experience here, but it's a hard balance. There would be less if more people disabled ad blockers on this site though.

The adblock add-on/notice doesn't affect anything other than popping up a dismissible window asking the user to disable it.

BTW, if you upgrade your account to a Gold membership, the ads 'should' be hidden for you.

EDIT: So you don't have to read through the full thread, we're currently testing it on 'guests' only (visitors that are not logged in).

I'm just testing it right now to get feedback. The ads and member-upgrades are the only revenue that goes into the time/hosting/maintenance of this site, and there aren't many upgraded members.

yes, that appears to have updated on 'thread pages'....ie normal topics. I have tested a dozen or so pages so far.

It does still appear on pages like
