XFS File System

Ubuntu, Bodhi, and Linux Mint are some great Linux systems to try that use GUIs.

Oh boy am I glad to hear that! So mainstream will work well. Can you tell me of any added security to the server if we were to change over (or am I in left field on that one)?

You may want to ask that as a new question in the forums in its own thread to get more detailed answers. Server security questions can be asked at http://www.linux.org/forums/server-security.16/

As far as added security, it depends on the type of server you intend to make and the specific situation. In general, Linux is more secure than Windows when comparing both on a fresh install.

Regarding the allocation policy,
could you please elaborate on how the xfs decides
in which allocation group a new directory will reside?

more specifically,
I have a disk which was formatted with xfs,
it has 8 TB and the xfs contains 8 allocation groups of equal size
when directories are being created, they are being created in only 4 allocation groups and not all of the,
why?
