Xbox 360 Controller with Steam?

So far, I'm quite pleased with how my upgrade to turn my PC into a Linux Mint gaming system with the Steam Client has good. However, over the weekend I had a chance to play Albion: Prelude for free and it just didn't seem geared to Keyboard and Mouse gameplay. In fact, it had a section for customizing a controller like an XBox gamepad.

So, I'm curious if anyone has a recommendation on how best to do this. I might have a few sources on where I can get a used XBox 360 controller.

Controller support depends solely on game. It's generally plug-and-play nowadays, specially when it comes to xbox pads for some reason.

My only advice is: if you don't get a natively wired one, get its very specific receiver. MS simply won't let you pair a wireless controller with regular wireless receivers, nor will it work by wiring to an usb port (charge-only). Tried it all.

The Xbox controller is the best for the Steam, works very well.

Picked up a Gamestop XBox controller and it's working fine with an easy driver install.
