hi there - dear Brickwizard, :)

many thanks for the heads-up - and for the sharing. This is very interesting.

I think until the new admin is in place here (USA) There is a good possibility it will be forced to sell off Chrome and maybe some other assets also. It's much like the AT&T breakup a few decades ago. What impact it will have on our computing is yet to be seen.

the heads-up
I had the feed some 3 hrs before I posted from a British site, but chances were members on other countries would not have access, so it took a while to find a US site with the same news. In fact I was surprised none of our members the wrong side of the pond had not posted first.

Saw it yesterday here, but was busy and didn't post it. If it comes to pass wonder what affect it will have on those browsers based on Chrome, IE Chromium and Vivaldi and others

Hummm... Advertisement on the front door announces "punishment" for an antitrust monopoly, so to please the competition as from DuckDuckGo which pleads for more fairness as they denounce the ultimate capitalist sin. Yet it's what's not too apparent at the back door i find most worrisome with Elon Musk owner of X/Twitter in charge of redefining administrative "efficiency" while Matt Gaetz reshapes "censorship"... Déjà vu? Here in Québec/Canada the members of FaceBook can no longer criticize politicians with factual support direct from the written press.

In addition, long long ago i remember my start page used to be Yahoo!, then MSN's (now rebranded as Bing i think) tried to impose itself but i resisted, each transitional time an average "surfer" being too lazy to shop around seriously and select a seach engine of their own personal preference: people didn't give it a second thought and simply went mainstream. In other words it's the members who made Google what it has become and that's no sin, only a tendency that would threaten the boat to tilt on one side and sink. Then the main question becomes, who shall actually benefit from the few lifeboats left available?? And of course i hear a voice that whispers, it's going to be the politi¢ian$, of course!

In other words make it politic if the goal was to vilify a resource doubling as diversion.

P.S.:

Woups!

@KGIII :-

Sorry 'bout that. I was forgetting myself; so many fora threaten reprisals for political stuff, but do nowt about it. Here, you actually DO.....and you pounce on it very quickly.

All credit for following through on those rules. The instant a politician's name is mentioned, your antennae start twitching, don't they?

Good on yer. It HAS to be nipped in the bud.....or else those rules don't mean squat.

It was more than the names used. You flew just a wee bit too close to the sun.

Don't worry. I don't take it personal and if you ask me tomorrow I'll have forgotten that I even removed your comment.

We all get passionate at times. It happens.

I don't play favorites. I'd rather not remove comments but we simply can't have political discourse here.

We could if folks would be civil and make an effort to view each other in their best light. We could if we could maintain respect throughout the discussion. We could if we were all unified with the same ideologies.

Ain't none of those things gonna happen. I've seen places where political discussion is allowed and it's never good (unless they all agree with me, of course).

We're better off without it.

Anyhow, no harm, no foul. You'd have to do much worse than that to get me to take real moderator actions.

(As stated many times elsewhere, I'm just a glorified janitor.)
