Hi Everybody

I was wondering if there is any way that one can use USB Wi-Fi adaptor with RTL8188EUS? I have a desktop PC where I use this Wi-Fi adaptor which is in the USB port. What does one need to use it in LInux? And is there any easy way to get it to work with a distro that are based upon Ubuntu? The one I was planing on using is call FerenOS KDE which is based upon Ubuntu 20.04. I hope that there is, because I am abit tired on Windows 10. Hope someone can help me with this?

Yours

If it doesn't work out of the box I would try installing this driver using your onboard network card since the one you are wanting to use is a usb wireless adapter.
1. sudo apt install git build-essential dkms
2. git clone https://github.com/aircrack-ng/rtl8188eus.git
3. cd rtl8188eus
4. sudo ./dkms-install.sh

There are working drivers for the rtl8188eus in the repos of most distros. So it should work out of the box.
The drivers linked in @f33dm3bits post above, are modified drivers that enable monitor mode and packet injection mode.
You really only need that driver if you want to do penetration testing. If you don’t plan on using monitor mode or packet injection mode, you can just use the standard drivers for it.
