Put one Linux on (eg Linux Mint, has Timeshift) - dualboot if you wish, then get yourself a few USB sticks, or just one stick 16GB to 32GB and I'll show you how to try up to 10 at a time, to see what best suits you in the long term.

    Hello Jewhisen,

    Welcome to Linux.org .

With those system specs any Linux you choose.

If new to Linux than I'd recommend Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon.

Take a good look and read as many times as necessary.
This is for Linux Mint 18.3 but will work for Linux Mint 19.1 also and for most any Linux Distros.

    Some useful links.

    A good read.

You could think of it as a kind of "system restore".
