good day, :)

which note-taking apps do you usually use?

I know that wildely loved are AFFiNE, Notion, Zettelkasten, Keep, Obsidian, OneNote and ofcourse Evernote.
But which one of these (or any other) do you use and can reccomend for a casual day-to-day use? In other words: How do you take notes and how you can take notes effectively yourself.
What are your tools?

I've tried so many note-taking apps over the past few years Notion, Affine and besides this - also Obsidian, etc. belive me - i have tested alot of them.
Notion and the bunch of others - they do not have the offline - Option. but Google does.
And all the Systems like Notion, Affine and Obsidian - they come with lots of bells and whistles - but Google-Keep Comes with the awesome simplicity:

therefore I keep coming back to Google Keep.

well that said: Google-keep does not have all the bells and whistles, but there's something about its simplicity that just works for me. keep is very fast, flexible, and incredibly accessible across all my devices. I usually add notes - even on my Android cell phone.

While other apps can get overwhelming with new features and customization, and come with steep learning curves - Keep stilll is refreshingly straightforward. No complex formatting, no endless options—just quick, easy straightforward and simple note-taking.

I use Keep as a fleeting notes. then transfer that (copy or sometimes rephrased into my own words) to Obsidian for actual note repository. For me it works great to capture ideas with Keep, usually on tablet or my Android phone, and then processing them to notion.

but as mentioned above - i allways come back to "keep"

and so nowadays i add my notes straight to Keep - and if i need more options - i can quickly transform the notes into google-drive - and then i have a fully blown feature-set.

And you: what do you use!?

Please share your ideas, your experience - just add your thoughts - i eagerly want to know whats your note-taking-story?!

Look forward to hear from you

regards :)

I use an ordinary text editor, /usr/bin/tilde. I do have a file that I use for notes and a .desktop file as follows:

Code:
#!/usr/bin/env xdg-open
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Comment[en_US]=Notepad
Comment=Notepad
Exec=/usr/bin/xterm -title note -e /usr/bin/tilde ~/notes/note.txt
GenericName[en_US]=note
GenericName=note
Icon=/usr/share/icons/Adwaita/512x512/legacy/accessories-text-editor.png
MimeType=
Name[en_US]=note
Name=note
Path=~/
StartupNotify=true
Terminal=false
TerminalOptions=
Type=Application
X-DBUS-ServiceName=
X-DBUS-StartupType=none
X-KDE-Substitute-UID=false
X-KDE-Username=
Version=1.0

All I've ever used is good old XPad.....and create desktop "sticky notes" with it. Straight up!

I don't tend to take much in the way of 'notes', as such; if I do, I just do what @GatorsFan does, and create text files with my default text editor (which for us in Puppyland is usually Leafpad). These then get saved to an appropriate location, depending on the content.

To me, note-taking 'apps' are just ever so slightly 'over-kill'.....

The desktop "stickies" are basically just day-to-day personal reminders, for appointments, 'to-do' items, shopping lists, etc.....stuff like that. I threw together my own wee launch/enable/disable utility for it that runs from a tray icon in the notification area, and which auto-starts at boot.

Well, it works for me..! :P

Btw. I like the ideas of just creating text files.

I use a program called "postit" which I originally wrote years ago to organize a pile of actual "postit notes" that were on my desk. It's not a commercial product, but it works really well for me - almost as if it had been made just for my purposes.
