Which 'dbus' directory are they reffering to ?

This could be a simple qustion for somebody who done this before to answer.
( Please no RTFM suggestions at this point)

This is a text of original dbus session,conf file - located in /etc/dbus-1 folder.
It clearly REPLACES the original session.conf with /usr/DBUS/share/dbus-1/session.conf

1. BUT it suggests to build the session-local.conf in SAME directory
which directory - the one this "removed" file is in or the /usr/DBUS/share/dbus-1 ?

2. The NEW /usr/DBUS/share/dbus-1/session.conf makes references / include files in OLD folders - not in
/usr/DBUS/share/dbus-1 folder.
The /DBUS/ folder was created by building the dbus package from source - using --prefix.

I am at lost - how do I keep the references straight ?

These are the two directories I have. Usually when I need to make an edit, I edit the one under /etc

/etc/dbus-1/session.conf
/usr/share/dbus-1/session.conf
