1) Please don't start a post with a "poll". It is unnecessary.

2) Please use your Enter/Return key to break up dense text.

3) You risk tl;dr

4) Ubuntu and Linux Mint are recommended for beginners to Linux. If you start with one of them, and learn the ropes, you can always move onto something else. Try not to jump around too much because you will learn a little bit about not very much.

5)
just wondering if any1 can recommend a better distro for my games n etc
What kind of games? Windows games? Linux Games? Steam games? Flash Games? Action games? RPG?

6) Welcome :D

Quite a lot of Gaming Linux is based on Ubuntu. http://www.techradar.com/news/softw...the-most-popular-linux-gaming-distros-1293840

This link does not mention Ultimate Edition, also based on Ubuntu
http://ultimateedition.info/

You could look at SparkyLinux which is based on Debian GameOver http://sparkylinux.org/tag/gameover/ ...or Debian itself.

When you talk about Ubuntu be aware that there is Ubuntu, which is Unity. Kubuntu, which is KDE, Xubuntu, which is Xfce4 and Lubuntu, which is LXDE. So there are different flavours avialable.

I don't know what you have against "sudo". Debian uses su to become Root, but sudo can be added...
