PopOS is fine for gaming, generally rolling release distributions are better because of having newer software and libraries. To give an example I used to run a Rhel clone on my desktop, I ran into the issue of the sound not working for certain games at one point, I then installed Ubuntu and then that same game the sound worked as expected. Ubuntu and derivatives are fine as I wouldn't recommend a rolling release distribution to someone who is new to Linux.
Here is one man's suggestions. I can't really speak to it myself as I don't game much.
Pretty much all the mainstream distros can be used for gaming just fine. You just have to make it work. You probably, for simplicity sake, want to avoid specialist distros - like distros meant for servers, small/old computers, distros for SBCs, etc...

I have actually been using the Latest Ubuntu that just recently released. Run perfect and little to get going. Also you check out gamebuntu (its a new app that makes installing software for games really easy) super simple to use and install everything and working pretty good and no issues on my end. https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop

I have AMD GPU and my choice is Linux distributions based on Ubuntu 18.04+ and Debian 10+.
I use elementaryOS because it is easy to use, fast, stylish and I get very good FPS in games.
Especially with FShack Wine versions, I get high FPS values by sharpening.

Windows isn't a Linux distribution so it can't be called a distro.
Try the FSHACK Wine version and then comment again.
Because I disagree with what you said.
Also, when I install the Fitgirl package, Windows 10 becomes unusable.
There is no such problem in Linux, I play LoL and I can even open videos in the background.

just to take a word from SpongeBob. also I have been on windows since MS_DOS and no Windows is not as good a gaming system as it was.

I'm not a fan of bottles personally then I would rather just do it manually in wine I feel like bottles is a lot more complicated than it has to be and you cant install games or apps on a second HDD and I don't think you can install games outside its own wine environment so I hope you have a big C: Drive

You can transfer the WINE prefix from Bottles and use a symlink to redirect from the prefix folder to where the prefix is now stored. You can also give a WINE prefix access to your root filesystem (and revoke it, or give access to certain folders), which WINE has by default and is located under Z:\ in the prefix iirc.
I still have to use Windows 10 for gaming occasionally, as FFXIV has horrible performance in dungeons when running through WINE on Lutris. When I have that issue fixed, the only thing I'll be booting into Windows for is a few games that don't have Linux support (COD, Fortnite, etc.), and even then, I haven't booted into Windows for gaming in months, as my XBOX serves as a replacement for Windows in most games.

Im not going to explain the reasons, but the best distros in my opinion are (excluding arch which is not recommendable for a newbie):
Pop!_OS, EndeavourOS, Ubuntu, Fedora.

i have personally changed OS to Garuda Linux.
I'm normally not a fan of arch but Garuda makes it so easy just a little cleanup and making sure everything is updated and that's that.
