Dear community,

i have a server - of which the backend is maintained by a good friend of mine. Well i for one - can setup the webmin - and of course the database.

question: which steps to take while setting up a new db on Webmin

well which things have to be done first: should i first :

a. create a user
b. create a db
c. create a user-permission
d. create a host permission
e. create a db-permission

well is there any concrete order - or a way to do that processes?
In other words: is there any concrete order?

Love to see your thoughts and ideas.

using webmin there really is not much of an order to set up as long as everything is set up.
you do of course have to have a database before you have a table because the table has to go somewhere. Fields can't be set up before the table exists for same reason.

you will need to make sure things like selinux and the firewall are not preventing communication on the port the DB uses. Otherwise just set up and enjoy. Well you will get frustrated getting the permissions and everything set just right for you but otherwise you will enjoy

good day dear @f33dm3bits and @APTI

many thanks for the reply and all your hints. Glad to hear that

webmin is generally a bit tricky - i have tried alot of things - and i have to say: the behaviour is not fully understood by me.

okay -

Well belive it or not: i did what in general is not recommended.

i added a user that allready is related to one db - to another db
this is not the best method - but this works. its a bit "quick and dirty -fix"
hopefully i will be able to fix this with a propper way and mehtod

greetings :)
