Hey, been trying to fix this on my own, but can not.

I get these video stutters when playing local video files. After a while of playing the video, it seems to lag out a bit and plays a sound/image twice, making a jumpy feel to the playback.

Tried a bunch of different players, I've tried many different outputs and hwdecoders. Now I'm using mpv from apt, running default settings. I also tried installing oibaf PPA and that didn't solve the problem either.

Also did a reinstall of OS to see if that would help, so now on a fresh Xubuntu since 2 days.

uname -a

If anyone has ideas or tips it would be greatly appreciated!

G'day @Koolan and welcome to linux.org :)

I am a fly by the seat of my pants fellow where audio/video is concerned, so I may not provide a solution :(

However I have run a brief Google on "linux video stutters" and was reading here

https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=212094 - which was solved at the 2nd last Post. There is also a blog referred to by one fellow in which he shows his smplayer preferences. mpv also features.

What is the default player for Xubuntu?

And

Tried a bunch of different players

... can you tell us which?

Good luck and if I find something of value, I will be back :D
