Very slow Wi-Fi on Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS

I did a clean install of the latest version of Ubuntu (24.04.1), replacing Windows 11 on my HP EliteBook 845 G10, but after that the Wi-Fi speed of my mobile hotspot has gone down drastically. Before I downloaded files with around 5 MB/s and now the speed barely reaches 1 MB/s. After trying a couple of solutions like for instance turning off the Wi-Fi power management the problem unfortunately persists. Any ideas how to fix this? (I am new to Linux so my competence with the OS is minimal.)

you may be using a generic driver [which works] but may benefit from a third party driver, at this point it is a guess as you have not given us any technical details,
From the terminal run inxi -Nn and paste back the results [inxi should be loaded, if not its in the software manager]

Mediatek are a pain in the rear, only fix I am aware of is updating to Ubuntu 24-10 but its not a LTS build and will need updating in 4-6 months

Hmm... do you think that installing the previous release (22.04.5) will help?

No the drivers for your card are fairly new,, you may be able to find a 3rd party LInux driver for your chipset

I don't know how but now my Wi-Fi speed is back to normal and I really hope it stays that way. I was just preparing a bootable USB with Ubuntu 24.10...
