Upgrade to Latest Edition of Mint

The satellite has been a Toshiba group product from mid 1990's those produced between 1994 and 2005 we're mainly 32 bit machines so most modern Linux will not work on them,, the quality has also been up and down , some at the lower end of entry level up to better than half decent, if its post 2005 with at least 2gb ram then first try Mint LMDE6, if before 2005 try Antix 32 bit,

if the machine was built for windows 8.1 or newer, then make sure you disable both Windows secure boot and windows quic-kstart both should be in the BIOS/UEFI
Ah, that would explain it.....the machine IS a 32bit one.....gonna try it on a 64bit one.....

Ok, might be a silly question, but how do I add desktop shortcuts.......

I add desktop shortcuts....
open mint menu look for the app in the list, right click and select add to desktop or if you want it in the main bar select add to bar
