I use Kubuntu and I would like to update from 14.4 to 14.10 but I need to find 770 MB. My laptop HD is a dual boot and the 60 gig HD is getting full. I have three partitions (windows, Linux and Linux swap).

In the distro, where is the best place to look to find things I can remove to get the extra space???

I'm not sure how you intend to upgrade from 14.4 to 14.10, but most users reinstall over the old one. If that's what you intend to do then save anything important in /home and the installation will format the partition.

If your going to do an in-place upgrade then the only safe place to remove files in in your /home.

14.04 is an LTS (Long Term Support). It will be supported until April 2019.

14.10 is a normal release and will only be supported until June 2015.

I would be tempted to stay with 14.04. OK it may not be cutting edge, but it will last longer...

Thanks

Sounds like a plan.

I've used the Muon upgrader before and it went well. But as another person said is that 14.04 is long term support so I may just stay with it.
