Ubuntu / no sound / sound card seen but no codec / (proc/asound/card0 empty)

I guess you meant in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf ?

No, I mean what I wrote. But it seems that I used some form of invisible ink...

Here's a one liner for you :
Code:
# echo "options snd_hda_intel probe_mask=0x1ff" > /etc/modprobe.d/please_just_do_it.conf
then reboot

still the same...:
[ 11.190791] snd_hda_intel 0000:00:1b.0: no codecs found!

@@wizardfromoz: no luck in the Ubuntu french forum where the only advice I got was to...browse the forum to find the solution (while I think it was quite visible from my post that I did already spend a fair amount of time googling, trying...). So...

No, I mean this site

and they are headquartered in Franche-Comté

Hi Guys,

just to let you know that I gave up to configure the ICH7 (realtek ALC882) integrated to my motherboard. The latest step was to try to compile the realtek driver but it does not compile.

I bought a new Bluetooth dongle (IT works BT 150) that was also challenging to get recognized by Linux (had to somewhat activate it from Windows before).

So I new get sound from Bluetooth speaker.

Thanks a lot for your help.
(I'll try again if I find potential solution for the ICH7)

Hello,

You should report the bug to the Ubuntu team.
Code:
ubuntu-bug linux

Maybe your bug has already been patched in the most recent version of the Linux Kernel. You can always try to install a newer version.

Good luck !
