The default panel includes "Time" (it is part of a sample "Indicator Applet Complete" ), is it possible to configure it that, date, year will be also indicated ? For 22.04 it was possible to do it via dconf-editor, for 24.04 nothing found.
Currently I use a workaround, added "clock" to panel, where I have date, year ...

I haven't used Mate in a while. If you right click on the clock, is there an option to configure it?

If so, you can add something like %A, %B %e, %H:%M to the weird looking configuration options that might look something like %H:%M:%S. (You may not have the :%S, as that's seconds and how I've got it configured on this device.)

No, only the Options : About, Remove from Panel, Move + Lock to panel.
Left click leads to a window where I can set time, date, ...but not the format what to indicate in the panel, see below :

Well, that's horribly basic. I was hopeful, but haven't played with Mate in quite a while. You can edit that in at least some of the more popular DEs, so I'm surprised it's not an option in Mate's clock.

If there are panel applets available, you could look in there. I'm not on the system at the moment but Cinnamon offers those. Someone here will have a Mate DE installed and may have figured it out.

I have found something, but obviously not recommendable for UM 24.04.01 : https://superuser.com/questions/669...onical-indicator-datetime-not-installed-error
Code:
sudo apt install indicator-datetime

And via dconf-editor it is now possible to set /canonical/indicator/datetime to custom, the panel "Indicator Applet Complete" crashed, after reload no indication of "clock".

Set back /canonical/indicator/datetime to default and removed indicator-datetime via synaptic (complete with all entries).

After reboot, the indication of "Clock" missing in the "Indicator Applet Complete" but also I get a system error indication to report.

I hope no further problems I will get.

There is always Linux Mint 22.1
I did test it on another Laptop. First it seems all O:K., but then after an update, done by Linux Mint, I had no access to an SSH server anymore (no error indication, nothing). The Laptop itself did work as SSH Server without problems after the Linux Mint update.
Replaced Linux Mint by Ubuntu 24.04, until now no problems.

But with this Laptop (used Ubuntu since 20.04 (3 month used, then 22.04), only LTS I use), I had massive problems with Ubuntu 24.04 (got no key-focus to the foreground application (firefox) if opened e.g. by double-click via e-mail link (Thunderbird). Gnome "steal focus prevention" perhaps did it ?! An error report on Launchpad exist, confirmed but no further action.

Debian I did test it on another system, got no complete internet connection, especially to the "Debian Forum" itself (7 years old RealTek 1Gb device), now with Xubuntu no problems-

Also with this Laptop I had problems with Xubuntu, my Elan-Touchpad did not work correctly.

---

But Asus + AMD is my world ..., therefore I can live with UM 24.04.

But perhaps with UM 26.04, I have also to switch to another system.

This ask ubuntu post might be of help, Scroll down to the section for 24.04.
I also know there is a weather gnome extension that will do it also. But can't remember the name of it. I used it before but haven't been on ubuntu for a while. Good luck.

An often use snap application did not work after my installing experiments.
I had to compile it (Ubuntu build : vivictpp (github)), now it works, and I have on my panel the single "clock", where the date-time indication is O.K..

I know this is a bit late, but open the Control Center, look for Indicators and in the popup window select Date and Time.
