Trying to remove old kernels - but receiving conflicting information.

I agree. It's best to let tools like the package manager do its job. Too many cooks spoil the soup.

chat GPT is a little out of date :)

Redhat 8 and 9 use dnf. The yum commands will still work, supposedly they will be deprecated in redhat 10.
But the yum command is just a link back to dnf. But yes, dnf has autoremove,.
It mentioned both.

The OP isn't about Linux Mint, but about Rocky Linux.

I'm well aware of that (post 3)...was pointing out how easy it can be done in Mint Cinnamon...maybe OP should take a look at Mint.

I would like to point out the benefit of learning how to do things on the command line. People get so used to using a graphical interface for everything. This deprives the user of learning how to use the command line which can open up a whole new world of knowledge and access. Some things will need to be done on the command line and/or with a text editor. Why hold yourself back? Dive in and learn. A shell can be a valuable resource. Everyone needs to learn how to use it. It doesn't have to be scary. It just takes a little work to learn. The man page for bash(1) is huge so it would take quite a while to read the whole thing. I still don't know most of what it says. If you want to know what commands are available to you try echo $PATH and check each of those directories with /usr/bin/ls. Then read the man page for each command that looks like it might be interesting or helpful to you. It's your computer and it's up to you to learn about these things. bash isn't the only command shell either, but it may be the most popular. I used to use tcsh in college. The shell syntax is a little different.
