If I understand cfdisk correctly, the partition table and partition scheme remains. The partition table is empty, but is still there. Twice I suggested wiping the partition table and partition scheme so that the Windows XP installer can create a new partition table using the partition scheme that it wants. In other words, take the drive back to "as shipped by the manufacturer."Can i do sudo cfdisk /dev/sda on pup linux and then write to and delete the partitions to clear the drive. Then do i need to do mkfs /dev/sda to the partitions.
After you are done installing Windows XP, you can make it dual boot or whatever else you want to do with it. Repeating once again: Do not connect Windows XP to the internet.
